This tutorial will walk you through the process of creating an image map using Macromedia Fireworks MX.  First there are some preliminary tasks we have to take care of, which include downloading an image file to map, and creation of three html pages which will be opened when a hotspot area of our graphic is selected.

  1. Download and save in the  images folder on your local computer the file shapes.gif.  ( You can download this file by right mouse clicking on this hyperlink, then selecting  Save Target As...  from the pop up menu. )

  2. Create the three web pages which will be linked too via your image map.

    1. Create and save, a web page named:   circle.htm
      • Make the background of this page a shade of pink.
      • Enter as a level one heading the text:   Pink Circle
      • Type your full name on the next line.

    2. Create and save a web page named:   rectangle.htm
      • Make the background of this page a shade of blue.
      • Enter as a level one heading the text:   Blue Rectangle
      • Type your full name on the next line.

    3. Create and save, a web page named:   polygon.htm
